Let's Be Honest About What It's Like to Work in Higher Ed Right Now.

You didn't sign up for the budget cuts, the leadership transitions, or the committee that meets every Tuesday to discuss the committee that meets every Thursday.

You got into this work because you care. About students. About your institution. About doing something that actually matters.

But somewhere between the competing priorities and the unclear expectations and the pressure that never quite lets up — it starts to feel like you're running on fumes and good intentions.

You're not burned out because you're weak. You're burned out because you're talented people in a demanding environment with no real framework for sustaining yourself.

And here's the thing nobody tells you: knowing your CliftonStrengths is not enough.

Lots of people know their Top 5. They can recite them at a staff meeting. They have the little card on their desk. But when the pressure hits — when the difficult conversation happens or the leadership above you shifts or the deadline moves up — they default right back to their old patterns.

Awareness without application is just expensive self-knowledge.

That's what this program is designed to fix.

Introducing:

Strengths in Practice

A 4-Week Group Coaching Program for Higher Education Professionals

This isn't a webinar you'll half-watch while answering email. It's not a self-paced course you'll bookmark and never finish. It's not a lecture from someone who read about higher ed in a book.

It's four live, focused coaching sessions with a small group of people who are sitting in the same kind of chair you are — navigating the same institutional complexity, the same leadership dynamics, the same pressure to do more with less — led by a coach who has spent 31 years in this world.

Each session builds on the last. You'll leave every call with something concrete — not just insight, but an actual shift in how you're showing up.

What We Cover

Week 1 — Honest Inventory: How Are You Actually Showing Up? We start with the real picture, not the idealized one. What does your leadership look like under pressure right now? Where are your strengths working for you — and where are they quietly working against you? This session is about seeing your patterns clearly so you can start working with them instead of around them.

Week 2 — From Reaction to Intention: Reclaiming the Wheel Higher ed will always give you something to react to. The question is whether you're responding from habit or from intention. In this session we identify your default stress responses and start building a more deliberate approach — one that's grounded in your actual strengths, not someone else's leadership playbook.

Week 3 — Leading the Room You're In This one's about people. Your team. Your supervisor. Your institution's culture. We look at how your strengths interact with the strengths of others, where the friction comes from, and how to navigate those dynamics without losing yourself in the process. This session tends to produce the most "oh, THAT'S what's been happening" moments.

Week 4 — Your Forward Plan We get concrete. Where do you want to be at the end of this chapter — and what does a strengths-based path there actually look like? You'll leave this session with a clear, personal framework for continuing to grow as a leader on your own terms, in your own context.

What You Get for $99

4 live group coaching sessions — 60 minutes each, held weekly. Real coaching, not a presentation with a Q&A tacked on at the end.

A small cohort of higher ed peers — not a crowd. This is intentionally kept small so the conversation stays real and the coaching stays meaningful.

A Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach with 31 years in higher education — someone who has actually lived the environment you're describing, not just studied it.

Between-session reflection prompts — short, practical, designed to keep the momentum going between calls without adding to your already full plate.

Session recordings — so you never lose something important because life got in the way of a call.

This Program Is For You If...

You work in higher education — academic affairs, student services, advancement, administration, operations, faculty, staff, it doesn't matter where on the org chart. If higher ed is your world, you belong here.

You have your CliftonStrengths Top 5 results, or you're willing to get them before we start. (The assessment is available at gallup.com/cliftonstrengths — the cost is separate from this program.)

You're in some kind of leadership role — formal title or not. You influence people, you manage up, you hold things together. That counts.

You're ready to be honest. With yourself and with the group. That's the only real prerequisite.

This Program Is NOT For You If...

You're looking for a quick fix or a magic formula. This is real work and it takes real engagement.

You want someone to tell you what to do. A strengths coach helps you figure out what YOU should do — that's a different thing.

You've never heard of CliftonStrengths and have no interest in finding out. This framework is the foundation of everything we do here.

About Kris McPeak

I've spent 31 years in higher education and 20 years working with CliftonStrengths. I'm a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach and I have been in the room you're sitting in — the budget meetings, the leadership transitions, the moments where you wonder if anyone actually sees the work you're doing.

I started coaching because I kept watching talented, committed higher ed professionals check out or burn out — not because they weren't capable, but because no one had ever helped them connect their natural strengths to the realities of their actual work environment.

That's what I do.

Strengths in Practice is the most accessible version of that work I offer. It's designed to fit into your life, meet you where you are, and give you something real to work with — starting the first session.

Ready to Stop Running on Autopilot?

Cohorts are small by design. That's what makes the coaching real. When seats are gone, they're gone — and the next cohort won't form until there's enough interest to fill it.

If you've been thinking about this, now is the time.

$99 for the full four-week program.

  • Yes — your Top 5 is the foundation of everything we do. If you haven't taken the assessment yet, you can do so at gallup.com/cliftonstrengths. It costs around $20 and is separate from the program fee.

  • Every session is recorded. Life happens — you'll always have access. That said, the live conversation is where the real coaching happens, so try to make as many as you can.

  • Not at all. If you're doing meaningful work in higher ed and influencing people around you — up, down, or sideways — you belong here. Leadership is a behavior, not a job title.

  • Session times are set when a cohort forms, based on what works for the majority of participants. You'll know the schedule before you commit.
